Organic & Biodynamic Wines
All of our estate wines are Demeter-certified Biodynamic and organic, Our non-estate wines are single vineyard bottlings made with certified organic grapes grown by Mesa Winds Farm (2009 Pinot Gris) and Dill Farm (2009 Dill Farm Riesling).
2009 Mesa Winds Farm Pinot gris, single vineyard, certified organic, is grown 6miles down the road from Jack Rabbit Hill. Naturally fermented – that means no commercial yeasts or other additives – for 7 weeks in stainless tanks, racked, and fined with organic egg whites from Jack Rabbit Hill’s chickens. River stones, fig, honeysuckle, eucalyptus, and lemon. Dry and full-bodied. 13% alc.
2009 Dill Farm Riesling, single vineyard, certified organic, is grown by our neighbor Fred Dill 2 miles down the road from Jack Rabbit Hill, and you can sure taste Fred’s 20-acre Jonathan apple orchard that surrounds his Riesling block! Fermented in stainless tanks to 3% natural residual sweetness, a nice balance with Dill’s crisp, refreshing natural acidity. Star fruit, citrus, lemon grass. 13.5% alc.
2008 M&N, estate grown, certified organic & biodynamic, is a blend of 52% Pinot noir and 48% Meunier grown in the Upper West Side block on Jack Rabbit Hill. Both varieties were naturally fermented (no commercial yeasts or nutrients) in stainless vats for 6 weeks at natural cellar temperatures around 65F, then racked and aged 12 months in 2nd year french barrels. Red cherry, violets, rasberry, and dark coffee. 14.1% alc.
2008 Barn Red, estate grown, certified organic & biodynamic, is a blend of Malbec, Foch, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and NY70 grown in the Upper West Side & Lower East Side blocks at Jack Rabbit Hill. Naturally fermented (no commercial yeasts or other additives) and aged for 15 months in neutral french barrels. Earthy blueberry and blackberry with lingering soft tannins. 13.5% alc.
