With all the great craft breweries in Colorado you’d think there’d be a healthy hop growing industry somewhere in Colorado. Surprisingly there are less than 10 acres of commercial hops in all of Colorado! Back in 2003 Ron Godin (CSU Soil Scientist) floated the idea of growing hops. We knew our site would be good for hops as they were already growing “wild” along a fence in a very cold spot on the property. Fast forward 7 years, some positive field trials at CSU, plus a trail blazing grower up in Paonia named Glen Fuller. Now we’re ready! 10 acres and 10,000 plants scheduled for planting on Jack Rabbit Hill in late May/early June. Cascade, Chinook, Brewer’s Gold, Nugget & Crystal varieties. Stay tuned…
